Stan Winston designed a replica of the T-1000 frozen in liquid nitrogen that was built with a fiber glass shell with fragments inside. When "shot", primacord is used to shatter the shell and release the fragments. Since fiber glass is not as heavy as ice, a fan blew the fragments to the ground to give the prop a shattering effect.
