Unlike the scene in the graphic novel, in which Dan Dreiberg/Nite Owl II wasn't present when Jon Osterman/Dr. Manhattan murders Walter Kovacs/Rorschach, he was present in the scene in the film. In the graphic novel, Dan was having sex with Laurie Juspeczyk/Silk Spectre II when Manhattan murders Rorschach. They were carelessly coping with the deaths of millions of innocent people by having sex. In the film, he was present in the scene and was extremely devastated over Rorschach's death. Besides Hollis Mason/Nite Owl, Dan saw Rorschach as one of his few friends.
