Third movie to star John Garfield and John Ridgely, be set during World War II, and reference the attack on Pearl Harbor, as well as be nominated for an Oscar for its writing, after Destinazione Tokyo (1943) and Arcipelago in fiamme (1943). The two Johns also co-starred earlier in a fourth film, Dangerously They Live (1941), also set during WWII.
