Bernard Delfont was from a show business family. One of his brothers was Lew Grade, who started ATV Music Corp, which bought Northern Songs, The Beatles' music publishing company. Grade (later Lord Grade) started ITC, responsible for classic television shows including Thunderbirds (1965), Il prigioniero (1967), Gesù di Nazareth (1977), and Muppet Show (1976). Grade also produced many feature films, such as Capricorn One (1977), I ragazzi venuti dal Brasile (1978), Blitz nell'oceano (1980), Sul lago dorato (1981), and La scelta di Sophie (1982). Delfont was also the uncle of Michael Grade, who would go on to be the Controller of BBC One, then CEO of Channel 4 in the UK.
