When Kal-El (as Clark Kent) is introduced to Lois, she says "Welcome to the Planet", meaning the Daily Planet newspaper. But this also carries a second meaning, "Welcome to Earth", which is what Kal-El was afraid would not be the reaction if people were to discover he is an alien.
