The visuals during the closing credits tell the story of what was to follow. Beginning with calm for Rock and Maggie and the recovery to follow, the waves become more fierce and eventually furious. They begin to break explosively, culminating in the thermal cloud of a nuclear detonation. After this the waves are reduced to gentle ripples on the sand.
