The film got Oscar nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for Miranda Richardson but lost out to Marisa Tomei for Mio cugino Vincenzo (1992). Also competing in this category that year was Joan Plowright for Un incantevole aprile (1991) which Richardson also starred in.
