The opening credits of "Grease: Live" specifically attributes its script to Bronté Woodard's screenplay for the 1978 film, as adapted by producer Alan Carr. A following credit refers to the stage play by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, but this new version is not based on (or an adaptation of) the play. It is essentially a remake of the film.
