Not only were Robert Shaw and Harrison Ford in two previous blockbusters, Jaws and Star Wars, they were both second-billed in those movies (joining in to help the heroic yet very human main characters halfway through) and wound up stealing each movie while becoming quotable, iconic, fan-favorite characters. Also, while Richard Kiel and Carl Weathers were not leading characters in The Spy Who Loved Me and Rocky... in fact, technically, both were antagonists... they also became beloved among fans.
