Officer Caroline Paski was originally written as a male character named Edgar. The film pays homage to this concept by having Caroline tell Graham that she's going to "go back to the station and have a cup of Edgar's coffee and try to think clear." In the screenplay, Paski tells Graham that he's going to "have a cup of Marcia's coffee."
