Although this fifth installment was supposed to be the first part of a new trilogy of Terminator movies, for the next (sixth) installment Terminator - Destino oscuro (2019), producer James Cameron and director Tim Miller chose not to continue Genysis' story, due to its disappointing critical and commercial reception. The sixth film is rumored to be Arnold Schwarzenegger's final time in the role, although Paramount is open to finish their intended trilogy with a seventh installment.
