This film shows multiple parallels between the fictional fan response for the movie-within-a-movie, Stab 8, with toxic fan criticism of Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi. Similarities include: 1) The director of Stab 8 is quoted as being the guy who directed Knives Out, without naming director Rian Johnson. Johnson also directed Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi. 2) An online campaign to remake Stab 8 because it subverted the expectations of hardcore Stab fans is started in the film. This is similar to an online petition created to get Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi remade. 3) Many suggestions of toxic actions taken by Stab franchise fans are similar to those of toxic Star Wars fans. 4) Stab 8 is, of course, the eighth chapter of the fictional Stab franchise. Episode VIII is also the eighth movie of the Star Wars series. 5) Stab fans, like Star Wars fans, are compared to one another as being far too attached to the movies to accept any new ideas on the franchise they love and seemingly only want to see the same things in sequels. Star Wars fans have famously used the term, "this movie ruined my childhood", much like fans of the Stab franchise say about Stab 8.
