Several internet sources say the TV tower used in Fall is the abandoned B67 TV tower in California, which was used for establishing shots. It is the fourth largest structure in the U.S. The upper portion of of the tower was a hundred foot section that was built on a mountain to give the illusion that the the characters were higher than the 100 feet (30 meters) they actually were.
