David frequently refers to Walter as his 'brother'. Besides the obvious reference, it is also a reference to Fassbender's previous performances as Erik Lensharr in another Fox franchise: X-Men, where Magneto refers to fellow mutants as 'brothers' and 'sisters'. Much like David, Erik seeks to liberate his people from humanity's control, though his portrayal by Michael Fassbender is more of an anti-hero than an outright villain.
