The use of computer graphics for a film in such complexity as for 'Zone 39' was a first for Digital Effects Supervisor David Nelson and his company 'Unreal Pictures' whose inaugural feature credit had been for Richard Franklin's Australian-produced theatrical feature film 'Hotel Sorrento'.
