The scene in the beginning of the film where the home intruder breaks down Madison's door violently, throwing her against the ground where she falls unconscious, symbolizes Gabriel forcing himself into her consciousness and body control. Her door is shown intact and unharmed later in the film, foreshadowing that the violent exchange took place all in her head.
