Robert Downey Jr. thought the scene when Iron Man regains consciousness could use a little snappier dialogue, so he requested that Joss Whedon add some. One of the ones that made the cut (the Shawarma reference) is influenced by Nicholas Brendon's (Xander from Buffy l'ammazzavampiri (1997)) interview. Nicholas mentions, "Would anyone like to go get some Shawarma?"
