Eddie Cantor is parodied early on. Some actual products spoofed are Old Maid (Old Dutch) cleanser, Ivory Soap (which purportedly floated as it was so pure), Wiggles gum (Wrigley) and Police Chief gasoline (Texaco Fire Chief). The Russian rye bit had a sly jab at the USSR with the allusion to a five year plan. As always with cartoon shorts of this era, which were part of a cinema show, it appealed to a more mature audience---but still had plenty of sight gags for everyone.
