In 1994, during the success of Generazioni (1994), screenwriters Brannon Braga and Ronald D. Moore pitched a script called "Jason vs. Freddy" which was about the "real life" Jason Voorhees (whom the prior Friday flicks are just movies that are based on this killer) is arrested and goes on trial for his murders. During his case, an angry parent of a victim appears, shooting at Jason where he's taken for surgery who's put under anesthesia where he meets Freddy Krueger after all these years, revealing he had sex with his mother (who wasn't a killer in this timeline) and Jason walked in on them as a child. During their first fight in the opened woods, Freddy discovers Jason's chest is a doorway to the real world and uses this as an opportunity to crossover to the real world with his powers, similar to Nightmare 2 - La rivincita (1985) to cause chaos. The script was self aware with meta jokes on the "Friday the 13th" flicks and featured one scene showing Jason's defense lawyer named Ruby Jarvis mockingly watches "Friday the 13th Part X: Jason's Greatest Hits & Chops" as a meta commentary on the series's silly overused cliches and tropes of the slasher genre, only for the same thing happen to her in a nightmare for us, the audience to point at the screen. (A la "Turn around, Jamie!" from Scream (1996).) Freddy was the only supernatural character while Jason is more superhuman like his earlier films rather than his zombie-self. (With his appearance describing to not be deformed but rather to look normal with scars across his face.) The climax has Jason teaming up with his lawyer, Ruby and his psychoneurosist to defeat the escaped Freddy, overtaking a shopping mall, tormenting his victims with all-compassing nightmares. The mall also featured a movie playing titled "Jason 2010" that would've been the inspiration for Jason X (2001) with a cardboard standee of a cyborg-Jason in a metal mask coming to life to fight the real Jason. However due to the box office failure of Nightmare - Nuovo incubo (1994), the script was scrapped.
