The newscaster in the beginning of the movie is named George Taylor. George Taylor was the editor of the Daily Star newspaper who hired Clark Kent in Action Comics #1 in 1938. (In 1940, the newspaper was changed to the Daily Planet and shortly thereafter, Perry White appeared as Editor-in-Chief.)
