At one point, the character of gossip maven Molly Luther asks: "Aren't you borrowing rather heavily from Viale del tramonto (1950)?" In truth, this film's plot borrows rather heavily from one of Kim Novak's best known films, the 1958 Alfred Hitchcock classic La donna che visse due volte (1958).
