The Beach Boys did record Charlie's song "Cease to Exist", but they changed the title, and didn't give him his writing credit. This was the turning point in Charlie's peace-and-love mode of living. When Terry Melcher led him on about a recording contract, and then refused to have anything more to do with him, Charlie began to put his murderous Helter Skelter plans in motion.
