Before Ray Parker Jr. was offered to record the film's theme song, Glenn V. Hughes III and Pat Thrall were previously approached. They recorded a demo titled "Ghostbusters", which was eventually rejected. The song was later rewritten as "Dance or Die" and featured on the soundtrack of La retata (1987). The demo of the song remained unpublished until June 2021, when Thrall uploaded it on his personal Soundcloud.
