Philip Seymour Hoffman remained in character during his time on the film. It was only after his final shot that he dropped character and introduced himself to the actors that played his Mormon lackeys. Hoffman would then return to Utah almost every year for the Sundance Film Festival, and would meet up with these actors each time.
