The character name Eaglebauer, along with the question "Animal, Vegetable, or Mineral" are references to the Ernest Lubitsch, pre-Code comedy Partita a quattro (1933), with Gary Cooper, Frederic March, Miriam Hopkins, and Edward Everett Horton.
