In one scene (after Judith and Nora have a run in with the law), Steve Guttenbergs character is driving the girls and his own son back home on his motorcycle. Judith thanks him for talking with "deputy dog" to help them out of their dilemma. The reference is a nod to Steve Guttenbergs character as Sheriff Tom in The Big Green, where his character is referred to as "deputy dog."
