One of the patrol boats in Jere's squadron is PT42. This is the same number as the one commanded by Robert Montgomery in I sacrificati (1945). It was the 77-ft Elco Boat of Ron-3 (Squadron-3) commander Lt jg John D. Bulkeley who was tasked with effecting General Douglas MacArthur's escape from the Philippines which was depicted in both the book and the movie.
