The ten-gauge shotgun used by Arnold Schwarzenegger during the majority of the film is a six-shot Winchester Model 1887. It was invented by gun designer John Browning, and was the first commercially successful repeating shotgun. James Cameron confirmed in the commentary that it is a ten-gauge shotgun, not a twelve-gauge.
