K.J. Apa and Ross Butler auditioned for the roles of Rangers Jason and Zack. Both would later be cast as rivals Archie Andrews and Reggie Mantle on Riverdale (2017) while their co-star Cody Kearsley and Drew Ray Tanner who portrayed Moose Mason and Fangs Fogarty appeared in the film.
