Berenge, played by Jeanette Sousa, after the zombie girl fight says into the dressing room mirror "What is beautiful? What is hideous", a line from Eugene Ionesco's absurdist / allegorical play 'Rhinoceros' (in which citizens of a small French village inexplicably transform into the titular animal one by one) as the director set the film as "a parody of" : note: Robert Englund's character is named 'Ian Essko', as nod to this literary source.
