Alessandro Nivola had nothing nice to say about the film and it's production. In an interview with IGN in 2002, he stated that he didn't like his role as there was nothing to latch onto "character -wise" and had a horrible time on set which he claimed was "maddening" and credited Sam Neill for helping him get through the experience by playing Beach Boys songs on Neil's ukulele while sitting in their trailers. When asked if he would return as Billy for Jurassic World Dominion, Nivola's response was, "You know, I tell you what. I really hope not. I really hope not". In 2022, Neill revealed that he had a lovely time with Nivola, although he sensed Tea Leoni and William H. Macy didn't have as much fun making it.
