When the movie came out, there were a ton of internal gossip rumors for a potential sequel featuring other horror icons. These included Ash from La casa (1981), Michael Myers from Halloween - La notte delle streghe (1978), and Pinhead from Hellraiser (1987). One rumor Ronny Yu heard shortly after the movie's release was Freddy and Jason teaming up to face off against Michael Myers.
