The song "London is the Place for Me" was originally composed and performed by Calypso artist Lord Kitchener, (real name Aldwyn Roberts), who immigrated to the U.K. from Trinidad (part of the nation of Trinidad and Tobago) in the West Indies on the Empire Windrush in 1948. His music epitomized the feelings of West Indian migrants to Great Britain in the 1950s.
