There are three notable scenes in the film in which characters come out of shadow into light: Ursula's first scene, King Triton entering Ariel's grotto before he destroys her human treasures, and Ariel entering the dining room of the palace in her new dress when she goes to have supper with Prince Eric and Grimsby.
