The plane seen at the end of the film as bringing Paul Tibbets back to Washington, DC, is a Douglas C-54, serial 42-72725. Note that the "USAF" marking on the upper right wing has been nearly obliterated because at the time the U.S. Air Force had not yet been established as an independent organization from the Army. Sometime after this film, this particular aircraft was converted into a SC-54D search and rescue plane. In July 1965, it was transferred to Davis-Monthan AFB and the Military Aircraft Storage and Disposal Center there. It then served with the Peruvian Air Force, reg. FAP-388 and was then transferred to SATCO airline (aka AeroPeru) with registration OB-R-862.
