The cup game Harry Luck (Brad Dexter) shows to the villagers is actually impossible. He cheats when he shows them by having one cup already upright, whereas he makes the villagers try to do it with all three cups upside-down. Presumably, this was an intentional ploy to trick information about hidden treasure from them.
