This film was originally going to be a sequel to the film Satan's Sadists (1969), with Russ Tamblyn and the other bikers from that film reprising their roles. Not long after filming began, the decision was made to turn it into a horror film and much of the biker footage was cut as a result. They could not cut out the bikers completely, however, which is why Tamblyn and his biker gang wander in and out of the film with no apparent connection to the story line.
