In this film, Poison Ivy/Pamela Isley proposes to Bruce Wayne an environmental plan to reduce humanity's use of the Earth's resources. The plan involves the elimination of diesel fuel and coolants (liquids or gasses used to reduce or regulate the temperature of a system). Bruce observes that millions of humans would die due to hypothermia (due to the lack of heat) or starvation (due to food rotting away without refrigerators). Isley considers this an acceptable loss. Isley seems to offer an exaggerated version of environmentalism's real-life ideological goal of "sustainable management of resources", as she suggests that there is a need to reduce the human population to accomplish this goal.
