After the release of the film, movie studio executives were keen to copy the movie's formula of one man trapped in an enclosed location fighting off against terrorists. These include Trappola in alto mare (1992) (Die Hard on a Battleship), A rischio della vita (1995) (Die Hard at a hockey stadium), Air Force One (1997), Passenger 57 - Terrore ad alta quota (1992) and Con Air (1997) (Die Hard on various types of Planes), Trappola sulle Montagne Rocciose (1995) & Derailed - Punto d'impatto (2002) (Die Hard on trains). These films were all the rage in the 1990s, ironically the Die Hard sequels themselves would move away from having John McClane fighting terrorists in enclosed spaces with each subsequent film upping the stakes such as fighting terrorists in an airport and surrounding area in 58 minuti per morire - Die Harder (1990), saving the whole of New York in Die Hard - Duri a morire (1995) and the whole of the USA in Die Hard - Vivere o morire (2007).
