The scene where Sarah (Emilia Clarke) and Kyle (Jai Courtney) time-travel to 2017 and end up on a freeway bridge was filmed in New Orleans. According to the producers, not only was New Orleans perfect in doubling for 1984 Los Angeles, it was also the only city that gave permission to use and close off a bridge for three nights of filming.
