The truck driver is never seen driving the truck, except briefly through his side window during an early overtaking shot; and when Mann stops for gas, seeing the driver kick the tires and fuel tank on the far side of his truck. Its also possible he's seen in the café, as Mann looks for the boots he saw when he stopped for gas.
