Matthew sets up Rod and Dora the exact same way that Matthew and his mystery girl, later revealed to be Patty, met which was in the same elevator that lost power. However, this time Matthew shuts off all the power to the dorm entirely and Rod and Dora did end up together as told by Matthew at the end of the film.
