In an interview with Fangoria magazine, director Jim Sonzero assured readers that key scenes from the original Japanese version of the film, in particular the infamous tower jump suicide, would be retained in this Americanized remake. This scene is absent from the theatrical version of said remake, as it had to be cut in order for it to have a PG-13 rating. However, the scene was restored to the remake in the unrated extended version of it.
