Prior to the 1994 divisional realignment, the Chicago White Sox were in the American League West Division, while its crosstown rivals, the Chicago Cubs were in the National League East Division. Both of the city's teams were placed in the Central Divisions of their respective leagues in time for the 1994 season as a result.
