So eager was Fox to get some of their money back, the film arrived at the British Board of Film Censors barely two months after the shooting had wrapped. It was passed with an "A" certificate on 30 May 1963 and opened in London at the Dominion on 31 July 1963. The lucrative 87-week run finally ended on 28 March 1965, after which Fox generally released the 35mm print at normal prices on the Rank circuit.
