There are two subtle nods to hugely successful film franchises by rival studios here. When frog Tiana is falling through the bayou trees, then suddenly is saved by cobwebs, the pose she ends up in is similar to the famous Tom Cruise suspension scene in Mission Impossible. And after Ray passes, Tiana begins to cry...and it rains. This scene was likely a nod to Men in Black 2 and the fact that when the princess (the Light of Zathar) is sad, it rained.
