The filmmakers originally planned to have Lyriq Bent, who portays Officer Rigg, as the main protagonist. However, since he was filming Angela's Eyes (2006) at the time, this was not possible. Despite this, they still wanted him in the film. Lyriq came over and shot his scenes in one day, and he was made the main protagonist in Saw IV - Il gioco continua (2007).
