Adam Marcus revealed that Duke actually survived his attack by Jason, as he had plans on making a spin-off movie about him. He would have explored his backstory on how he first came into contact with Jason, who killed his girlfriend, and his subsequent quest for revenge. The critical and financial failure of this film, along with New Line Cinema's focus on getting Freddy vs Jason (2003) made, prevented such a film from ever materializing.
