Sharon Stone said on the Drew Barrymore Show in October 2020 that she posed nude for the July 1990 issue of Playboy to try and get cast in Basic Instinct by grabbing the attention of producers. She said, "I did think it was the right part for me, and I knew what I had to do to get it."
