The book 'A Tale of Two Brothers', released in 1994 (which explores the life of a much younger Mufasa and Scar), reveals that Scar's real name is 'Taka'. It was after an incident with a Buffalo that he received the wound that resulted in his Scar. After which he insisted on being referred to as 'Scar' from then onwards.
